As the number of years remaining under your lease falls, so can the value of your flat.

Since shorter leases can be more difficult to sell or re-mortgage, the law, in most cases, entitles you as a flat owner to extend your lease by paying the landlord a premium. If this cannot be agreed, terms will be determined by the First-Tier Tribunal (part of the Court system).
